In Japan, ceremonies have been held since the Edo period to pray for the growth of children. Girls participate in the "Hair Placing Ceremony" at the age of three and the "Obi Unfolding Ceremony" at the age of seven. Nowadays, these ceremonies have become established as the Shichi-Go-San event, and girls wear kimonos and visit shrines at the ages of three and seven. In this work, a girl's ceremonial obi, which is a sash worn with the kimono, is unraveled and remade to both celebrate the girl's growth and question the way adult women live.
