in her midst―彼女の世界
My mother began to show symptoms of dementia a few years ago.
As I became more involved with her who lives alone, I noticed a discrepancy between her stories and reality.
She increasingly misplaced things and began to take a significant amount of time searching for them.
She then started to make a fuss about things being stolen.
She makes up stories that “things were stolen” to convince herself about things that are not where she expects them to be, because she cannot remember anything.

She makes up stories that “things were stolen” to convince herself about things that are not where she expects them to be, because she cannot remember anything.
Living without memories, she lives in uncertainty and anxiety everyday.
To accept the reality of her life, she makes stories that are woven with memories of the past.
My mother's world is constantly created in her mind. Her world is in her midst.
